Welcome to our 2025 SUMMER SEASON
Family: The Ties That Bind us in a World Gone Mad
People often ask if I set out to program a season around any specific theme. The answer is no. But somehow a theme emerges anyways.
I think this is because our work is so new. Playwrights, like novelists and other storytellers, reflect the world around them. They naturally pick up and explore what’s in the current zeitgeist.
The scripts that came across my desk this year were no exception. And no, they’re not about global turmoil, elections or trade wars. Instead, they’re about a very human response to a time of crisis: a turning inwards to the relationships that sustain and protect us most.
Thus you’ll find family at the heart of every show we’ve planned this summer. We have stories about mothers and daughters, mothers and sons, fathers and sons, couples in all their complexity, and the ties that bind us through the best and the worst of times.
I hope you enjoy these beautiful stories as much as we’ve enjoyed preparing them for you.
And never forget: theatre itself has always been an act of rebellion. It is the voice of the people. And we are so very grateful for the opportunity to channel your voice and tell your stories.
